[27.07.01] While testimonies about torture and beatings in jails and Police Headquarters start flowing, we begin to have a complete view of the present situation of the people imprisoned with the arrest confirmed and detained for safety measures: 25 people from the PubliXtheate Caravan (17 from Austria, 3 Americans, 2 from Slovacchia, 1 from Australia, 1 German and 1 Swedish) in Alessandria, 10 German people in Ponte X (Genoa), 3 in Pavia. Only one person from the Pertini raid is still in jail. All the people released even if formally free are taken directly to Police Headquarters and expelled from the Country for 5 years, European citizens included.
80 people have been marked as disappeared, even if their reappearence is often not notified. Ruggiero, Minister of Foreign Office, comments "Youth... Probaby they have gone to the sea...".
Meanwhile international pressure on the Italian Government is growing: Embassies, MPs, Consulates, NGOs and association fo human rights like Amnesty International are moving against the Government.

[25.07.01] Today about 64 people should be released. Maybe more will be, following the news that GIP (a judge) has not validated saturday night arrests. While news about enquiries begin to flow and arrests (9 only this night in Genoa) and searches (in many arrested people's houses) go on without rest, the Regime spreads: on one side people after being released from jail or jail hospitals is moved to the Police Headquarters without having the possibility to talk to anyone (we don't understand following which law), and after that taken to the airport to be sent in their home country; even a Consul has not managed to convince the Police of the need of the people to mediacl treatment and to the respect of the most basic civil rights. The situation is the same in Pavia, Voghera, Genova. On the other side Vittorio Agnoletto, spokeperson for the GSF, has been fired from his role in the Drug Commision, since "he has expressed dissent regarding the Government actions": a true act of revenge.

[23.07.01] Almost 50 more arrests in Genoa inland: 25 people of the PubliXtheatre, No Border Caravan, have been arrested with the nowadays omnipresent excuse of being part of the violent section of the demonstrants and they risk up to 8 year imprisonment. Two more groups odf 9 persons have being raided in a camping and in a camper, with the excuse of being dressed in black. Repression goes on. Meanwhile 130 people are released from Alessandria jail. Le centre de presse a été très violemment investi par la police : Témoignage sur la descente policiere violente. Michael, qui venait a Gênes en tant que représentant de l'association Quinoa (Bruxelles), témoigne de la violence totalement gratuite dont lui et ses camarades ont été victimes. [durée: environ 5 min.]

[02h00] : LES BLÉSSÉS SONT EN TRAIN D'ÊTRE EVACUÉS. La police a quitté le centre de convergence. On ne connait pas le nombre d'arrestations.

[01 H 00 dimanche 22 juillet] : PLACE DIAZ : les policiers ont investi le centre de convergence où était basé les associations et Indymedia vers minuit. En même temps ils ont fait une descente au gymnase Cardini qui est en face.

POLICE STORMED the building that hosted the press office, Indymedia, Radio Gap, ManifestoCarta, ... with tear gas and batons, and the building opposite that hosted other GSF groups. They held people and took IDs. About ten people managed to escape from the windows. There have been approximately 20 seriously injured people from police violence. People in the street where chanting "fascist" and "bastardo". Injured were carried out on strechers badly wounded. There was copious amounts of blood. Blood that was seen on the ground was not there minutes later. Police sealed off street in surprise and a helicopter was overhead continuously like a military operation. TONIGHT SILVIO BERLUSCONI'S NEW REGIME IS BORN IN GENOA
The storming of the police into the building that hosted the GSF media center (press office, Indymedia, Radio Gap, ManifestoCarta, ...) and into the building opposite to it destroys the constitution of the Italian state. Beside the Government choice to repress in an anti-constitutional way the GSF, the police was surely not looking only for photos and videos showing the very brutal events of the last few days. They were especially looking for an escape goat for all of this.
They held numerous files, including the data-banks of the volounteer lawyers that were assisting legally some demonstrators. But what is worse is the the incredible violence with which the police went against the 50 guys who were sleeping in the gymnasium opposite to the media center. The signs are clear: BLOOD EVERYWHERE, BROKEN GLASS, DOORS AND WINDOWS DESTROYED... The signs of a one-way violence! And now the police has taken away about 50 people (nearly all were first transfered to the hospital) accusing them of belonging to the "Black Bloc".

Charges de police corso Gastaldi. La police a chargé et jeté des grenades lacrymogènes contre un millier de manifestants qui retournaient en groupe, pour se protéger, vers le stade Carlini. Un local proche de la Croix Rouge, a du ouvrir ses portes pour accueillir une centaine de personne.

Retour au calme ? Correction, après retour vers le tunnel : en fait si le sud de la voie ferrée semble maintenant être retournée au calme, la partie nord a encore bouger. Juste après le tunnel, deux voitures flambent. A l'est, vers le "torrent" (une voie fluvialle totalement asséchée en été), je vois les flics lancer des lacrymos. Je m'en approche, mais il ne se passe plus rien, lorsque j'arrive. A côté de moi, un gradé fait un rapport, mais je ne comprends toujours pas l'Italien. Fait amusant : Un flic habillé mi-civil/mi policier, visage caché par un foulard, tenant un bout de bois se le fait brusquement confisquer par un carabinier, mais ce dernier voyant ensuite un insigne de police à sa poitrine, lui rend le bout de bois en s'excusant... (question le flic porte-il toujours son insigne ?). Fait plus intéressant : Les flics se retrouvent pris à partie par des habitants. l'un d'eux prononce le mot "démocratie". Le gros des camions repartent vers le nord laissant une trentaine de carabiniers au carrefour.

Retour au calme sur la zone de la manif. Après une dernière échauffourée sous le tunnel situé au bout du corso Torino, les flics se sont repliés juste à l'entrée de celui-ci sur via Tolemaide (ce point probablement était le point le plus chaud de ces deux jours). Plus loin à l'angle Torino/Via Buenos Aires, Un autre gros dispositif policier est présent. En fait, la police est présente dans tous le secteur. Immobile. Au milieu, des petits groupes de passants (dont des manifestants "pacifistes") circulent. En fait, il n'y a plus de manif, seulement une ville "habitée" par des personnes portant badges, T-shirts et pancartes...
Sur Corso Torino. je vois un jeune manifestant se faire embarquer dans un car de flics, puis être relâché deux minutes plus tard. L'hélicoptère ne semble pas avoir de position priviliégiée, impossible donc de savoir si d'autres affrontements ont lieu autre part dans la ville.

La police prise à revert. Place Brignole un cortège de manifestants, environ 5000, vient de surgir... derrière le dispositif policier qui est plutôt surpris... Il s'agit de militants CGIL (la CGT italienne) et de la Coordination Nationale pour le Développement, une organisation d'agriculteurs qui promènent avec eux une vache en plâtre dépuis plusieurs jours.

Une centaine de personnes ont été séquestrées par la police dans le Public forum, l'espace où se sont déroulés ces derniers jours les débats publics du contre-sommet. Des manifestants tout à fait pacifiques, qui ont été chargés par la police alors qu'ils tentaient de s'éloigner de cet espace proche du centre de convergence où se sont déroulés cet après-midi pendant plusieurs heures des affrontements.

Coups de feu vers Brignole. Vers la queue de cortège, là où près du tunnel avaient lieu des confrontations entre manifestant et policiers, des coups de feu viennent de retentir. La queue de manif fait une avancée vers la tête, en courant.

Au centre de convergence Il y a 2 heures la police a pénétré dans le centre de convergence et tenté d'arrêter l'ensemble des personnes présentes : bénévoles qui s'occupent des stands, manifestants qui se sont réfugiés là pour s'éloigner des affrontements, etc. Beaucoups ont tenté de fuir par la plage et se sont fait gazés copieusement et matraqués. Il y a au moins une jeune fille grièvement blessées (touchée au sternum). Au niveau du Public forum du GSF et dans les allentour il y a un gros groupe de manifestatnts associatifs (Arci, Legambiante) qui sont bloqué et largement gazé depuis un bon moment.

Rancuniers les habitants de gênes ? Malgré tous les dysfonctionnements qu'ont pu endurer les habitants, ils ne semblent pas rancuniers. La preuve : un vieil homme qui, de son balcon, distribue des petits pains. Mais, le plus populaire est sans aucun doute le lancer de bassines d'eau, qui partent de toute la longueur de l'avenue ! En effet, il fait très chaud, cet après-midi, et les manifestant ne demande que cà. Chaque lancer d'eau étant accueilli, voire précédé, de grandes clameurs. Un habitant utilise même un jet d'eau !

En Europe, des militants ont également affronté les forces de l'ordre, comme en Allemagne ou en Grèce lors de manifestations contre le sommet et la mort du jeune homme. Des dizaines de chauffeurs de taxis ont formé une caravane dans le centre de Hambourg samedi matin en signe de sympathie aux manifestants de Gênes. Dans plusieurs quartiers de la ville, des bureaux de banque ont été attaqué à coups de pierre, et de peinture; des poubelles ont été incendiées. La police a dispersé environ 70 personnes. Aucun blessé n'est à déplorer.

Black bloc ou flic déguisé?
Certains Black Blocs attaquent très tranquilement des vitrines déjà brisées hier, ils pillent des magasins devant tout le monde, jettent des pierres qui retombent sur les manifestants. Il est très probable que ce soit des provocateurs policiers.

Arrestations de masse au camping Redipuglia. La police a opéré une descente au camping Redipuglia, où se trouvent les militants du Network per i diritti. Il ont arrêté tous les présent dont nous ne savons pas actuellement le nombre exact.

Le centre Indymedia est de nouveau menacé

Les flics jouent définitivement la provoc ! ! Via Tolemaide, là ou étaient les Tutte Biance, encore un barrage, mais avec des blindé leger. En face de nous, un barrage de flics. Seule voie possible : vers la zone rouge. Une voiture de flics s'avance jusqu'a nous, un grade en descend. Le convoi de vehicules suit. La voiture repart, le convoi suit... Tout le monde crie "Assassini".

Des manifestants piégés. Les forces de police ont refermé une nasse autour de manifestants qui se trouvaient toujours non loin du centre de convergence, parmis lesquels un petit groupe de militants de Rifondazione, les empêchant de rallier le gros du cortège. Ils ont été chargé et gazés, puis pour certains contraint pour partir de passer entre deux rangs de policiers qui les ont matraqués.

Les lacrymos pleuvent.... A 14h36, des bombes lacrymo sont jetées de façon provocatrice par les flics, au milieu de la foule pacifique, au Centre de Convergence. L es hélicos survolent en permanence la zone, provoquant la panique.

Les interpellés et les inculpés. Sur les interpellés durant la journée d'hier la pluspart ont été où seront relachés aujourd'hui. Environ 50 personnes sont maintenues et détention et seront inculpées, soit pour avoir été prisent en « flagrant délit », soit pour avoir été identifiées sur photos ou vidéos comme participant à la casse.

ANARCHISTS? A part of the demonstration called Black Bloc by the mainstream media got hold of the headlines of the world newspapers. An escape goat consisting of few hundreds people - they left in 2000 and arrived in about a hundred - justifies yesterday's killing and violence. Witnesses talk about infiltration of police and intelligence forces from all over the world. A display of police forces, armed with anything possible, supported by airplanes, war- helicopters, tanks, tear-gas, water-cannons and other weapons decided deliberately NOT TO STOP this "unstoppable black bloc".
In a day of strong repression against all blocs, nothing was done to stop the actions of this restricted group of people in order to use them to justify the violence against the demonstrators that were taking part to the different events of the day.

De nombreux blessés
Un journaliste qui s'est rendu à l'hôpital Galliera (un des hôpitaux de Gênes) y a dénombré 60 blessés dans ce seul établissement, dont une dizaine de policiers. Parmi les blessés graves un journaliste italien.
Par ailleurs, des témoins nous ont rapporté qu'un manifestant a été renversé, vers 13 heures aujourd'hui, place Kennedy par un bulldozer des carabiniers. Un groupe de manifestants était encerclé par les force de police, certains d'entre eux ont tenté de s'enfuir : l'un des manifestant a alors été percuté par le véhicule lancé à grande vitesse et traîné sur plusieurs mètres.
Enfin, la jeune manifestante qui est actuellement dans le coma est de nationalité française. La TV italienne à montré ce soir la scène où plusieurs policiers la rouent de coups sur la tête. Cela s'est passé à proximité du lieu où le jeune manifestant a été assassiné.

Le journal TV de la 5 (chaîne de Berlusconi) vient juste de montrer une terrifiante séquence photos qui établit sans l'ombre d'un doute la responsabilité des carabiniers dans la mort du jeune manifestant.
Première image : le jeune manifestant avec un extincteur à la main. On devine par une vitre brisée de la jeep immatriculée CCAE217 un carabinier qui vise.
Seconde photo : le corps du jeune homme à terre la tête ensanglantée.
Troisième photo : la jeep des carabiniers roule sur le corps du jeune manifestant qui gît dans une mare de sang.
C'est clairement un assassinat !

Les témoins du meutre sont à la préfecture pour témoigner. Il sont accompagnés par des représentants de la Legambiente, dont le siège est proche du lieu du meurtre, et où les témoins se sont réfugiés après les faits. « Nous avons assisté à la scène depuis les fenêtres de notre local » a déclaré un des activiste de Legambiente.

GSF : manifestation de masse demain
ASSEMBLÉE AU CENTRE DE CONVERGENCE
Une assemblée du Genova Social Forum qui s'est tenue piazza Kennedy suite à cette journée lourde en événements. Agnoletto, le porte parole du GSF est intervenu pour demander :
La démission du ministre de l'intérieur et du chef de la police.
La suspension du sommet du G8.
Le retour de toutes les forces de police dans les casernes.
La libération des personnes interpellées.
Il a en outre appelé à une grande manifestation dans Gênes demain pour dénoncer ce G8 qui gouverne avec des blindés et la répression.
Sont intervenus en suite, entre autres, Luca Casarini (tute Bianche) et Fausto Bertinotti (Rifondazione comunista). Casarini a appeler à un grand débat politique pour « sortir de la spirale de la répression et de la violence ».

La police encercle le stade Carlini: Les forces de l'ordre ont pris position autour du lieu où sont logés les « Tute Bianche » et divers autres groupes et d'où est parti le cortège de la désobéissance. Selon certains témoignages, quiconque sort du stade est arrêté.

Photos de l'homicide. Dans l'après-midi, une jeep de carabiniers a été prise à partie par un petit groupe de manifestants. Alors qu'un cordon de flics en tenue anti-émeute se trouvait à proximité et n'a pas bougé, le chauffeur de la jeep perdant la maîtrise de son véhicule dans la panique. Un des carabiniers a alors tiré deux coups de feux à bout portant sur l'un des manifestant. Alors que le corps était au sol, des carabiniers l'ont encore roué de coups, ce qui a provoqué une altercation entre membres des forces de l'ordre.

19:35: The Head of the Procura has issued an ordonance delaying the possibility to speak with lawyers until the transfer in jail (up to 48 hours)

Des vigiles contre les manifestants ? A proximité du centre de convergence du GSF, dont la police s'est retirée, des hommes en uniforme avec marqué dans le dos « Sicurezza » ont été vu en train de faire la chasse aux manifestants qui refluent dans le coin.

Du côté du cortège de la désobéissance. Piazza Tomasseo violente charge de police, un blessé grave, un jeune manifestant de 15 ans. Le cortège de la désobéissance est semble-t-il coupé en plusieurs morceaux. Il a subi il y a quelques instants (16h45) de copieux tirs de gaz lacrymos et des tirs de canons à eau. Il y a eu aussi quelques moments de tension entre Tute Bianche et des anarchistes qui tentaient de s'en prendre à des magasins et des voitures. Le gros du cortège est en train de se replier.

Déportations sans raison aux frontières. Voici le témoignage d'un activiste britannique refoulé à la frontière. Où l'on apprend de la part des policiers que les droits de l'homme ne sont qu'une "utopie" dans les zones de rétention...

Le stade Carlini, en banlieue accueille les manifestants et organisations qui désirent participer à des actions de désobeissance civile. Mais les installations accordées par les autorites sont inadaptées.

A propos des enveloppes piégées... Comme pendant les années de plombs, l'Italie voit revenir la stratégie de la terreur noire (suspecting bomb, agent provocateur methinks!!!!)

Gênes se transforme en une forteresse pour limiter l'accès des manifestants aux différentes zones de protection. La SNCF a bloqué à Calais le train "Globalise resistance" affrété par les réseaux activistes anglais sous prétexte que l'Italie a bloqué sa frontière (the G.S.F. denounce the attempt of French government). Le train Globalize Resistance repart. Les Alpes-maritimes renforcent leur contrôle à la frontière. Blocages à la frontière italo-suisse. La Bavière retient les activistes. Czech Bus Stopped at Brenner Border.

Et tout à coup nous avons réalisé que nous avions repoussé le G8 sur le port, presque à la mer. Les chefs d'état se sont réfugiés à proximité d'un bateau, genre de boat-people d'un type nouveau, au nom ronflant, l'European Vision.

Special trains from every Italian region are ready to reach Genoa. In most of cases the GSF is contracting locally with "Trenitalia" railroad society. GSF met the general direction of the society and approved all the local contracts without problems. In some regions the situation could be really different, so we invite you to refer to Associations, Social Centers and local Rifondazione Comunista Party's seats.
For all people coming from the rest of the Europe (we hope from the rest of the World!!) we're publishing information about trains and highways, and maps to help you reach easily Genoa.
